Participants are granted entry to the park at gate 5 between the White Sox Grill and the Chicago Sports Depot. Parking in Lot B is FREE.
Where do we climb?
Participants will walk or run down and up designated sections, progressing through the outfield bleachers to right field. You’ll then exit the bleachers and enter the 500-level ramp, walk or run up the ramp, around the 500-level concourse, to the ramp on the other side of the stadium. Participants can soak in the skyline views before returning to the 100-level via the ramp on the north end of the ballpark.
This route is estimated to take 10-30 minutes and is wheelchair accessible.
Participants can do the route more than once if they choose.

What’s included with registration?
Registration includes exclusive access to Guaranteed Rate Field for the 25th annual Aon Step UP for Kids presented by KPMG, live music, kids’ activities, a ballpark meal and one beer or treat.
How do I register for Step Up for Kids?
On our registration , you can register as an adult stepper, youth stepper or virtual stepper. You can also join a team or create a new team.
What can I expect at Step Up for Kids?
This year’s Step Up for Kids will feature an outdoor climb at beautiful Guaranteed Rate Field! Participants will climb rows of seats and ramps to the upper deck to enjoy skyline and ballfield views. There will be climb options for all abilities, and ambitious climbers can complete several loops to take their challenge to new heights. The climb will be followed by a 25th anniversary celebration with food, drinks, kids activities, music and more!
Will participants be allowed on the field?
No, the venue doesn’t allow participants onto the field at this time. Reach out to Ted McCartan with additional questions.
Will the event be timed?
No, with the unique challenge this year, we will not time the event. Participants can time themselves and customize the challenge to their liking! Reach out to Ted McCartan with additional questions.
What do we bring to the event?
All participants must have their bib and proof they’ve completed our symptom screening to enter the stadium. A screenshot of the green checkmark after completed the symptom screening will work as proof.
Bags are not allowed in the ballpark, with the exception of the following (which will all be opened/screened by security on arrival):
- medical bags
- small clutch purses or fanny packs under 9" x 5" x 2" in size
- diaper bags when an infant is present
Step Up participants will be treated to a ballpark meal plus a cold beer or sweet treat. Water will be available throughout the event to all participants. If participants have dietary or allergy-related restrictions, they may bring their own food provided it is in a clear plastic bag.
Participants will be able to re-enter the ballpark in the event they need to drop something off or retrieve something from their car.
There will be an area in the ballpark staffed by event volunteers for participants to check sweatshirts, jackets, keys, or other small items while they complete the climb.
Weapons, alcohol, soda, bottles, cans, hard or liquid containers of any type are not allowed to be carried into the ballpark.
